Many people make New Year's resolutions and are excited about the resolutions that they are making. A new year's resolution is a secular tradition in which a person makes a promise to do an act of self-improvement. It is about hope of making things better, for example I need to quit smoking, or I need to start eating healthier.

The truth is most of these resolutions never see the second day or the first month of the year. People have good intentions to do good things but these intentions are not necessarily put into action. This tells you that you can't transform your life unless the Master of life is with you. We read in Habakkuk 2:2, Then the Lord said to me, Write my answer in large, clear letters on a tablet, so that a runner can read it and tell everyone else. You need to plan and make those resolutions to say, How am I going to live my life this year? How am I going to transform my life?

Sometimes when you make plans you can be in such a hurry that you forget to wait for the Lord. When you wait upon the Lord, God blesses you. In the New Year you need to wait upon Him. You should not try to achieve things by your own power. You need to put Him first and let Him take control.

The New Year resolutions you make should be to know and understand that God loves you. That is the first thing you need to know. God loves you. You need to pray for the safety of your children, spouse, parents, brothers and sisters, because when you pray you block the activities of evil. You need to consecrate and communicate with God. You need to come closer to Him, as He comes closer to you. You need to begin this year with a positive spiritual connection to God and use the failures of the past to achieve something great for God.

In a way every person who calls on the name of Jesus will have opposition and the strongest opposition doesn't come from people, but from the devil himself. This happens because once you come closer to Christ, satan wants to disturb you so that you won't focus on God. However, through prayer you have been given power to defeat him, because he was defeated on the cross of Calvary. In the New Year you have to know that you are going to make it, because God is with you.

1 Samuel 16:2 says, But Samuel said, How can I go? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me. The Lord said, Take a heifer with you and say, I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. God will never put your life in danger. He will always take the first step to ensure that you are safe. You need to know that He is always with you, and He promised that He will always provide for your needs. You need not fear the unknown. As you face this year, 2015, you should not fear and you should know that He is the Lord in your life. Romans 8:28 says, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. No matter what your circumstances are, God can still change things around. Nothing is impossible and everything is possible with God.
