It is with great sadness that we have learnt that Sipho Kaleni, a Radio Pulpit presenter for more than two decades, has passed away after suffering from diabetes and septicemia.

Sipho was a gentle giant in the radio broadcasting and music industries. Similar to the meaning of his name – gift from God – he has impacted thousands of Radio Pulpit listeners. Sipho has, in the process, received industry recognition for his work by being nominated for various radio awards. In 2015 he won the 2015 MTN Awards – Best Night Time Show.

He also served as TV presenter, scriptwriter and producer for programs such as Real Vision, Gospel Gold and Khwezela with Zanele Mbokazi.

Sipho, who was in his own words a ‘music minister’, hosted the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards numerous times. He had a rich musical background as songwriter, arranger, composer and recording artists. He has written songs for artists like Lebo Sekgobela, Tebelo Sukwini, Priscilla Mahamba, Zanele Mbokazi’s TV programs, and Isambulo TV, to name but a few.

Completed his mission

It was Sipho’s sole mission to influence lives for God’s glory. We have experienced that first-hand at Radio Pulpit. When we look at the messages streaming in from colleagues and listeners, we know that Sipho has completed his mission successfully.

It warms our hearts that listeners and colleagues remember moments that were precious. He will be sorely missed in the gospel industry.

Sipho leaves his wife, Brenda, and three children, whom he loved dearly.
