Committed to renew
Written by Han on 15 April 2022
It might, at first, seem ‘scary’ to become a newborn Christian. Giving up all the so-called ‘fun’ stuff that the world offers looks rather complicated. But God promises us so much more than this world could ever give us.
James 1:12 (NLT) says:
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterwards they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
Does that not make you excited to know that your life will be blessed in so many ways? And to top it all off, you will receive ‘the crown of life’…WOW!
Colossians 3: 8-10 (NLT) explains that we should be completely renewed and be made into God’s new version of ourselves. How do we do that? By committing ourselves to God’s process of renewal and obeying His Word.
But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behaviour, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
Colossians 3: 8-10
To be renewed is not that difficult. When you get to know God and commit to living a life with Jesus Christ as your Saviour, it all happens as you grow in faith. You wouldn’t want to live any other way, and all the ‘wicked deeds’ that Colossians refers to will become less and disappear without you having to try very hard.
Jesus leads us in the renewal of our mind and the Holy Spirit, our Helper, is there to assist us.
May you be committed to discovering your new nature and shining your light onto others.
