Johann Els

Reverend Johann Els has been a seasoned Radio Pulpit presenter, singer, and preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ since 1985. He describes himself as someone who will defend God’s honour without being a so-called “people pleaser”.

Johann Els is a Radio Pulpit stalwart with more than 35 years of service at Radio Pulpit. He was one of the founders of the university radio station, Radio Matie, and also involved at Jacaranda FM and Ofm. Reverend Els holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from the University of Stellenbosch.

Johann describes his wife, Louise, “as a gift from God” and is the proud father of four. Lise, Johann, Johannes and Willem, his pride and joy. Reverend Johann and his wife live in Pringle Bay, a small coastal town in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. He also sometimes uses it to broadcast. They moved to Pringle Bay from Bloemfontein in 2015, where he was the reverend at the Dutch reformed “Klipkerk” for nearly 21 years. Johann is still a mentor to many young preachers.

His daily devotions, which are a great encouragement and daily boost to listeners, have also been combined into a book called “Dagbreek met God”.

Reverend Johann loves music in all its forms, and listeners can hear diverse gospel music in his programmes. He lives life to the full. Authenticity, realness, joy and helping and caring for others are some of his passions. His love for God and people is tangible to every listener, even when speaking to thousands.
